General Information
A Quarantunes COMPETITION?!?! LBMT is hosting a fourth and final A Quarantunes Cabaret, but this time with a twist… Performers for this show have always been divided into two groups with two sets of performance coaches. This year they will form teams to battle it out with both solos and ensemble performances for the ultimate “Quarantunes”!
To participate is simple – pick your favourite show tune from a movie musical that you have been dying to perform or one that you simply belt out in the car and prepare it for an audition. That’s right, YOU pick the song that you want to sing in the show! We are looking to cast 16 performers (2 teams of 8). Everyone cast will meet three to four times with two of our performance coaches to fine-tune performances and bring them to the next level. Additionally, performers will participate in an ensemble number consisting of the entire cast and one with just the other members of their team.
Rehearsals will take place at Riverview School of Music (480 Avalon Place) in the Alta-Vista area of Ottawa starting on Saturday, April 15. Jesse Kahat and Andrew Wiseman’s team will rehearsal Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Lili Roussakis and Skye MacDiarmid’s team will rehearse Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon. The show will be presented to in-person audiences for 2 evening performances on May 25 and 26 at the Eastview Legion.
Both performances will have a set of 3 judges, each representing a tripe threat of musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting. Cast members will compete to have the top scoring solo number and top scoring team. The top scoring solo number will win a $100 cash prize courtesy of Riverview School of Music. There will also be an audience choice award for best solo and best ensemble number.
Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be adhering to current COVID protocols set in place by the Province of Ontario and Ottawa Public Health.
