LBMT is looking to cast its third annual Composer’s Series Cabaret, which will be focusing on the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show will feature a selection of scenes and songs from his vast collection of musicals, including Phantom of the Opera and Joseph & the Technicolour Dream Coat.
The show will mainly consist of solo and duet numbers with some larger ensemble numbers. Performers will have the opportunity to participate in at least one solo or duet, as well as, one or two larger ensemble numbers. We are looking to cast at least twelve people in the show. Everyone participating must be fully vaccinated – no exceptions will be made.
The show will be presented to in-person audiences for a total of 4 performances from May 6-8 at The Rideau Curling Club using an in-the-round style stage. The show is being artistically directed by Jesse Kahat, musically directed by Lauran McKay, choreographed by Andrew Wiseman, stage managed by Laura Walker, and produced by Mathieu Charlebois.
Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be adhering to current COVID-19 protocols set in place by the Province of Ontario and Ottawa Public Health. The bulk of rehearsals will take place in the Alta-Vista area of Ottawa twice a week. They will be mainly on Friday evenings from 6:30-9:30 with some on Wednesday nights also from 6:30-9:30 or Saturday Afternoons from 11:30-2:30.
Dates and Times:
- Friday, February 18: 6:30pm, 7:30pm, and 8:30pm
- Saturday, February 19: 11:30am, 12:30pm, and 1:30pm
All auditions will be conducted individually. If you are not available during these audition times but would like to still audition, please select Virtual Audition on the audition form. We will contact you to book a time, and the audition will be conducted using Google Meet.
Location: Riverview School of Music – 480 Avalon Place (located inside Trinity Church of the Nazarene). You may enter the building using the parking lot entrance on Braydon Avenue.
Please prepare 32 bars (1 minute max.) of a musical theatre song that best demonstrates your vocal abilities. Our music director will be able to provide you with piano accompaniment.
You may receive a short scene that you might be asked to read during your audition (it will be a cold read). Please look it over as you are waiting for your audition to begin. During the audition, our choreographer will also teach also you a short 8 count dance routine.
Please Note: You do not need to memorize the scene. You may be given further instruction about the scene by the director at your audition. You may also not be required to read the scene at all.
A session of callback auditions may be held in the evening on Wednesday, February 23 at the discretion of the artistic team and may only require certain individuals. They are not an indication of whether you will be cast in the show, or are up for receiving a specific role in the production. Callbacks may not be required if the artistic team does not feel they are necessary for casting the production.
