Stage Manager and Producer Call – Putting It Together

General Information

LBMT is looking for reliable, effective communicators to join the production team of Putting It Together as stage manager and/or producer. The show will be presented to in-person audiences for a total of 4 performances from April 28-30 at LIVE on Elgin. The show is being directed by Joy Mwandemange (with support from Euan Wheaton) and musically directed by Sabrina Tang. The musical features a cast of five characters.

Rehearsals for the show will be held at Riverview School of Music (480 Avalon Place). Weekly rehearsals will take place on Monday evenings from 7-9:30pm and Saturdays from 12-4pm. Additional Wednesday evening rehearsals will be added in April closer to the show dates.

Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be adhering to current COVID-19 protocols set in place by the Province of Ontario and Ottawa Public Health.

Please Note: This is a volunteer position.

Stage Manager Responsibilities

• Creates and sets-up rehearsal schedules.
• Manages furniture and props.
• Arranges costume and fittings.
• Liaises with all production team members and collates information.
• Supervises the ‘set-up’ and ‘strike’ (when the set, lighting and sound are installed and removed from the space).
• Creates a prompt script compiled with notes on Actors’ cues and requirements for props, lighting and sound.
• Guides alterations made to the set and props between scene changes.
• Controls the sound and set lighting cues during the run of the show and/or cues the lighting and sound technicians.
• Manages the backstage and onstage area during performances.
• Calls actors for rehearsals and performances.
• Maintains props, furniture and set during the run.

Producer Responsibilities

• Develops budget (approval by board) for entire production, including at least the following categories: performance fees, theater rent, theater labor, publicity, programs, music, costumes, set construction supplies and construction expenses, fundraising expenses.
• Develops and maintains overall production schedules.
• Creates and sets-up rehearsal schedules.
• Arranges rehearsal space, audition space, production meetings.
• May designate Assistant Producers and delegate any portion of these responsibilities as appropriate.
