A Little Lin Music (SOLD OUT)
November 15-16, 2019 at LIVE on Elgin | 8pm
Tickets are $15 in advance | $18 at the door
Lost Baggage Musical Theatre presents: “A Little Lin Music” – a celebration of one of Broadway’s leading composers, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
With 3 Tony awards, 3 Grammy awards, and an Emmy award, Miranda has catapulted himself into the spotlight with his innovative writing style, captivating stories, and multi-faceted acting skills. He wrote and originally starred in Hamilton, his most popular musical to date. Seven months after the show’s sell-out off-broadway run in 2015, it moved to broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre garnering unprecedented amounts of advance ticket sales. Hamilton went on to win a total of 10 Tony awards after receiving a record breaking 16 nominations.
Starring a stellar cast of local performers, “A Little Lin Music” gives you a taste of all Lin-Manuel’s work – from Hamilton to In the Heights to Disney’s Moana. Additionally, we have included Lin-Manuel’s 14-minute musical entitled “21 Chump Street” in our program. This show is based on a true story as reported in the series ‘This American Life’. 21 Chump Street is a cautionary tale of a high school honours students who falls for a cute transfer girl. He goes to great lengths to oblige her request for marijuana in the hopes of winning her affection – only to find out that his crush is actually an undercover cop planted in the school to find drug dealers.
There aren’t many chances to see Lin-Manuel Miranda’s compositions! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to relax, grab a drink, and enjoy an evening with Ottawa’s top performers showcasing the work of broadway’s leading man. If you’re fired up after the show with show tunes (we know you will be…), stick around for some karaoke with the cast and other audience members.
