General Information
LBMT has taken it’s typical cabaret and turned it on it’s head! While past cabarets have mainly featured music and acting, Puttin’ On the Rizz! is a full-blown dance show featuring dazzling, show stopping dance routines and numbers from a variety of dance styles found throughout musical theatre. The show is being directed by Jesse Kahat and Andrew Wiseman with additional choreography from Niamh Webber, Amber Green, and Milie Veronneau. The show will feature ensemble numbers with contemporary, ballroom, tap, jazz and musical theatre styles of dance with solos and small group numbers mixed in.
The best part? This cabaret is completely inclusive! It doesn’t matter your background or experience, we want you to audition! Dance is for everyone, so whether you are a competitive dancer, a retired dancer, a novice dancer, or a two-left-feet dancer, this show is for you. Puttin’ On the Rizz! aims to provide a safe, equitable space that fosters growth and creativity in trained dancers while inspiring and encouraging new dancers. Whether you are looking to build up your confidence to tackle the trickiest of musical theatre dance calls, return to dance performance after a hiatus, or simply looking for more performance opportunities to showcase your craft, there is a place for you in Puttin’ On the Rizz!.
The bulk of rehearsals will take place in the Hintonburg area of Ottawa on Monday and Friday evenings from 7-10pm in the Recreational Hall at Tom Brown Arena (141 Bayview Station Road). The show will be presented to in-person audiences for a total of 3 performances on May 31 and June 1 in the Léonard Beaulne Studio at the University of Ottawa (135 Séraphin-Marion Private).
Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be adhering to current COVID-19 protocols set in place by the Province of Ontario and Ottawa Public Health.

Location: Riverview School of Music – 480 Avalon Place (located inside Trinity Church of the Nazarene)
Upon submitting your audition application, our auditions manager will contact you for confirmation and to provide you with a link to a 32-count dance routine video prepared by our choreographers. Please use the video to prepare as best as you can. This will be the only component of the audition. Remember that it doesn’t matter if the routine is perfect, the audition panel just wants to see how you move so they can find the best fit for you in the show.
Auditions will be conducted in small groups of up to 3 dancers. Our choreographers will review the routine with you, give you any tips or pointers to help you improve, and then ask you to perform the routine as best you can with the rest of the group.
If you are a trained dancer and would like a feature in an ensemble number, a solo, or participate in a small group number, we invite you to send in a video of a dance routine that you have performed. The video can be something you recorded specifically for this audition or something you have from a past performance. It can be a full number or a count of 32. The routine you present in the video doesn’t necessarily have to be what you perform in the show and the style of dance can be outside the realm of musical theatre, tap, jazz, and contemporary.
Please submit the audition application at the bottom of the page, if you would like to audition for the show.
Please Note: These are volunteer positions.
