Lose Your Baggage at Lost Baggage

At Lost Baggage Musical Theatre, we believe that the theatre is for everyone. Our mandate is to diversify musical theatre performance in Ottawa and bring more musical theatre to the east end in Orleans. We strive to create rehearsal and performance spaces that allow for individuals to freely create and participate in without fear of scrutiny or harassment.

When you come to a Lost Baggage production, expect to leave the burdens of everyday life at the door and escape for a while. Lose your baggage at Lost Baggage.

“Something About New York” is the combination of two original musicals composed by Mathieu Charlebois and friends for the Ottawa Fringe Festival. The first musical, “The Drunk Text” was performed as part of the 2018 Fringe festival. The second show, “Chaz’s Lush Life” was intended to be performed in this year’s festival, which was cancelled due to COVID-19. As the two musicals use the same characters, the two story-lines have been intertwined to create an all new full-length musical, which features many original songs as well as numbers from other musicals such as, “Sunday in the Park with George”, “Bare: A Pop Opera”, and “Anything Goes”.

A Virtual Stephen Schwartz Cabaret

This year’s composer’s cabaret series will centre around Stephen Schwartz. With a consistent career spanning over four decades, Schwartz has cemented himself as a one of the backbone composers and lyricists of musical theatre. He has contributed lyrically and musically to many well-known show, such as Godspell, Pippin, , Rags, and Wicked. Additionally he wrote lyrics for some of Disney’s most well-known cartoon musical blockbusters, The Prince of Egypt and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

From “Popular” to “Day by Day”, there’s a number sure to wet your whistle and get your toes tapping! We hope you will join us as we celebrate one of Broadway’s masterminds.

We see you.

We hear you.

We stand with you.

Lost Baggage Musical Theatre believes that the theatre should be a place of healing, relief, and enjoyment for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexuality.

As People of Colour especially continue to face discrimination, harassment, micro-aggressions, institutionalized racism, and violence within the entertainment industry and within our world, LBMT wants the public to know that we stand in solidarity with People of Colour and the Black Lives Matter movement in bringing equality and justice to our industry, our city, and our country. We will continue to take action through our programming, our platform, and our voice.

The theatre is for everyone. The world is for everyone. And we will not stop until everyone is welcomed equally.

“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education.” – Plato
