Casting Call: Bonnie & Clyde

General Information

LBMT is looking to cast its upcoming production of Bonnie & Clyde. The musical will be presented from April 10 – 19, 2025 for eight performances at Arts Court Theatre. The show is being directed by Mike Sheppard, choreographed by Kristen Loreto, and musically directed by Sabrina Tang. The musical features a cast of 21 roles, playing the 42 named characters in the show. The show has lead roles, principle roles and two ensembles, both featuring a variety of major characters and roles. 

Rehearsals for the show will start in January 2025 and will be held at Lost Baggage Musical Theatre (480 Avalon Place). The exact evenings and times of the rehearsals will be scheduled according to the availability of the cast.

Please note, southern accents will not be a requirement.

Audition Information

Dates and Times:

  • Monday, November 3: 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm
  • Tuesday, November 4: 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm
  • Wednesday, November 5: 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm
  • Thursday November 6: 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm

All auditions will be taking place at Lost Baggage Musical Theatre (480 Avalon Place). Each auditioner will be assigned a 15 minute time slot with the hour. If you are not available the audition dates but would like to still audition, please select “Not Available/Video Audition” on the audition form. We will contact you to make alternate arrangements for a video audition.

Please prepare 32 bars (one-two minutes) of a musical theatre song that fits the style of the show and best demonstrates your vocal abilities. Please come prepared with sheet music so our pianist will be able to provide you with piano accompaniment. Please be ready to not just sing the song, but to perform it!

Participation in an individual dance/movement segment at the end of the audition slot will be required for all those auditioning. Please come wearing dance appropriate clothing, as you will not be able to change at the audition.

A session of callback auditions will be held on Saturday, November 8.

Show Synopsis

Bonnie & Clyde is a thrilling, romantic musical based on the true story of America’s most infamous outlaw lovers. Set against the backdrop of Depression-era Texas, the show follows small-town waitress Bonnie Parker and charming ex-con Clyde Barrow as they fall deeply – and dangerously – in love. Drawn together by dreams of fame, freedom, and escape from hardship, the two embark on a reckless crime spree that captures the nation’s attention. As their notoriety grows, so do the risks, forcing them to face the inevitable cost of their choices. Blending electrifying music, gripping drama, and a passionate love story, Bonnie & Clyde is a tale of desire, danger, and the price of living outside the law.

LEAD ROLES

  • BONNIE: Female, able to play ages 18-29, (Range: F5-G3) – A beautiful girl torn between love and fame. Clyde’s ambitious, stubborn lover.
  • CLYDE: Male, able to play ages 18-29, (Range: C5-A2) – A charming small-town boy who craves notoriety. Bonnie’s reckless, bold, daring lover.
  • BUCK BARROW: Male, able to play ages 25-39, (Range: G4-B2) – Clyde’s brother and an outlaw troubled by his wife’s distaste for his lifestyle. Adventurous and loyal.
  • BLANCHE BARROW: Female, able to play ages 24-39, (Range: Eb5-G3) – A religious woman who disapproves of the criminal lifestyle. Honorable and righteous. Married to Buck Barrow.
  • TED HINTON: Male, able to play ages 18-29, (Range: A4-C3) – A police officer struggling to separate his feelings from his duties. Kind and honest. Madly in love with Bonnie.

PRINCIPLE ROLES

  • THE PREACHER: Male, ages 45-65 (Range: C5-A2)  – The town’s evangelist. Loud, passionate, boisterous.
  • CUMIE BARROW: Female, ages 40-55 (Non-Singing) – A kind woman among those suffering in the Depression. Loyal and selfless. Mother to Clyde and Buck.
  • SHERIFF SCHMID: Male, ages 30-65 (Non-Singing) – The no-nonsense Sheriff of west dallas, begins the hunt for Bonnie & Clyde. 
  • EMMA PARKER: Female, ages 40-55 (Non-Singing) – Bonnie’s widowed mother. Fragile, caring, sensitive.
  • GOV. FERGUSON: Female, ages 40-65 – An enforcer of the law and Governor of Texas. Tough and harsh.
  • YOUNG BONNIE: Female, ages 8-12 (Range: C5-C#4) – Bonnie Parker in flashbacks
  • YOUNG CLYDE: Male, ages 8-12 (Range: A5-B3) – Clyde Barrow in flashbacks

DANCE ENSEMBLE: 6 Female roles, playing a variety of ages, dancing throughout the show and playing the roles of Trish, Eleanor, Stella, shopkeepers, cops, customers and townspeople.

ENSEMBLE: A small ensemble will play a variety of ages and roles including Bud, Officer Johnson, Alcorn, Harry, Charlie, Archie, Joe, Hammer, Guards, Cops and townspeople.
