General Information

This cabaret series began during the pandemic as a virtual show series called Quarantunes Cabaret. Overtime, it has evolved into a live on-stage production, and the series has been renamed to Baggage Claim Cabaret – where performers discover their songs! While the format remains the same (performers audition with their chosen songs and a theme shapes the show) this year, we’re embracing the spirit of love with a Valentine’s theme!
For this production, we’re looking for performance coaches to guide and refine our cast’s performances. In previous years, we’ve had two sets of coaches, each working with 8 performers. Each cast member will audition with a song they want to perform in the show, and as a performance coach, you’ll be responsible for helping them perfect it over 3 to 4 rehearsals. Additionally, you’ll work with the show’s choreographer to help oversee at least one ensemble number with your group of 8 performers and collaborate on a full company number with the entire cast.
What you’ll do:
- Work with 8 solo performers to fine-tune their songs and bring them to life on stage.
- Guide and rehearse with your team in an ensemble piece.
- Coordinate flexible rehearsals, accommodating your schedule and the cast’s availability.
Rehearsals will take place at Riverview School of Music (480 Avalon Place) in the Alta-Vista area of Ottawa. There will be one or two ensemble music rehearsals in December. Then rehearsals will commence at the start of January with at least 2 rehearsals per week. The show will be presented to in-person audiences for 3 performances from February 13-15 at Trinity Church Of the Nazarene.
