Season Seven: 2025-2026

Five years ago, we dreamed of launching our Halloween musical series with The Rocky Horror Show – and now, the time has finally come! We’re kicking off the season with this cult classic at a brand-new venue for LBMT: The Richcraft Theatre at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Next, LBMT proudly presents the world premiere of One Small (Mis)Step, a brand-new musical created by local artists. For our spring production, we dive into the gritty and gripping tale of America’s most notorious criminal couple with Bonnie and Clyde. To close out the season, we return with our second annual musical theatre dance showcase – this time titled Dance Like No One’s Watching – a high-energy celebration of movement and storytelling through dance. With such a diverse lineup, there’s something for everyone this season at LBMT!

The Rocky Horror Show is a high-energy, rock ‘n’ roll tribute to sci-fi and B-horror movies, packed with outrageous characters, catchy songs, and electrifying moments. The story follows Brad and Janet, a newly engaged couple whose car breaks down on a dark and stormy night. Seeking help, they stumble upon the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a charismatic and eccentric scientist hosting a mysterious gathering.

As Brad and Janet are drawn into Frank-N-Furter’s world, they encounter his creation, the muscular and naive Rocky, along with a host of bizarre and unforgettable characters. Through a series of wild and risqué encounters, the couple’s conventional beliefs are challenged, leading to an unforgettable night of self-discovery, seduction, and rock ‘n’ roll.

Filled with cult-classic songs like “Time Warp”, “Sweet Transvestite”, and “Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me”, The Rocky Horror Show is an interactive, boundary-pushing celebration of individuality, freedom, and unapologetic fun.

The original London production of The Rocky Horror Show, directed by Jim Sharman, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre on June 19, 1973 and won the 1973 Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Musical. Later transferring to several other locations in London, the show ran for a total of 2,960 performances. On March 10, 1975, The Rocky Horror Show opened on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre, starring Tim Curry and featuring Meatloaf and “Ritz” O’Brien. In 2001, the show returned to Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre, starring Raúl Esparza, Tom Hewitt, Alice Ripley and Jarrod Emick. Directed by Christopher Ashley, the revival ran for 437 performances.

Evening Shows at 8:00pm | Doors at 7:30

Dance Like No One’s Watching, our dance showcase, is back with a bold new name but the same electrifying energy! This unique cabaret experience flips the script on traditional musical theatre cabarets by putting dance front and centre. While past LBMT cabarets have focused more on vocals and acting, Dance Like No One’s Watching celebrates movement in all its forms, showcasing some of Ottawa’s top choreographers and dancers in an inclusive, dance-focused showcase.

This year’s show features an eclectic setlist of musical theatre-inspired dance numbers spanning styles like ballroom, tap, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and more. From dynamic duets and intimate small group numbers to show-stopping full ensemble routines, this lineup has something for every kind of dance and theatre fan.

Curious about a new dance style but can’t commit to a full production? Our rehearsals are open to the public as drop-in dance classes! Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just want to try something new, these drop-ins are a great way to get moving. Donations are welcome—either online or in person at the rehearsal—but not required.

Come celebrate the joy of movement and musical theatre in a space where you can truly dance like no one’s watching.

Created during the height of the pandemic, this online cabaret brought together performers from across the city – and beyond – to share their love of Disney through song, all from the safety of their own homes. The featured number in this video is “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast – a joyful, ensemble performance that perfectly captures the spirit of creativity and community that defined our virtual shows.
