Show Information
Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

Show Synopsis
Welcome to the bustling streets of Damon Runyon’s New York City, where gamblers, showgirls, and missionaries collide in this Tony Award-winning musical classic! “Guys and Dolls” follows the intertwined stories of two unlikely couples as they navigate love, luck, and life in the Big Apple.
At the heart of the story is Nathan Detroit, a charming but scheming gambler, who is desperately trying to find a location for his infamous floating crap game. To secure the funds he needs, Nathan makes a bet with the charismatic Sky Masterson that he can’t woo the pious and dedicated Sarah Brown, a Salvation Army sergeant, to join him for a night out in Havana. As Sky takes the bet, he finds himself unexpectedly falling for Sarah, leading to a series of hilarious and heartwarming adventures.
Meanwhile, Nathan’s long-suffering fiancée of 14 years, Miss Adelaide, dreams of settling down and finally having a “normal” life with him. But when her chronic cold worsens due to the stress of their relationship, she begins to question whether Nathan will ever truly change.
Featuring a toe-tapping score by Frank Loesser, including beloved songs like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” and “Adelaide’s Lament,” “Guys and Dolls” is a joyous celebration of love, laughter, and the irresistible allure of Broadway. Join us for an unforgettable evening of musical theatre!

Reviews
“Count me squarely in the Guys and Dolls camp. If there’s a flaw to be found in the 1950 “musical fable of Broadway,” based on characters created by journalist/short story writer Damon Runyon, it’s not in Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows’ drum-tight book. And it’s certainly not in Frank Loesser’s honey of a score.”
– New York Stage Review
“In all departments, Guys and Dolls is a perfect musical comedy…. The book is a work of easy and delightful humor. Its music and lyrics, by Frank Loesser, are so right for the show and so completely lacking in banality, that they amount to an artistic triumph.”
– Daily News
“One of the funniest and melodious shows in seasons. Everything about it seems practically perfect.”
– Variety
“Mr. Loesser’s lyrics and songs have the same affectionate appreciation of the material as the book, which is funny without being self-conscious or mechanical.”
– The New York Times
“Guys and Dolls is just what it should be to celebrate the Runyon spirit…. [It is] filled with the salty characters and richly original language sacred to the memory of the late Master”
– New York Post
