General Information
LBMT is looking to cast its upcoming production of Anne of Green Gables. The musical will be presented from March 10-14, 2027 for six performances at the Richcraft Theatre in Shenkman Arts Centre. The show is being directed by Morgan Strickland, musically directed by Tania Granata, choreographed by Tara Marcoux-Tynski, and produced by Erika Scrivens. The musical features a cast of at least 29 characters (19 female representing – 10 male representing, plus potential for additional ensemble members).
Rehearsals for the show will start on Monday, October 26 and will be held at Lost Baggage Musical Theatre (480 Avalon Place). They will be on Monday and Friday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm and on Saturdays from 9:30-1:30pm.

- Wednesday, October 14: 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm
- Friday, October 16, 7:30, 8:30pm
- Saturday, October 17: 10:30, 11:30am, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00pm
All auditions will be taking place at Lost Baggage Musical Theatre (480 Avalon Place). If you are not available these audition dates but would like to still audition, please select “Not Available/Video Audition” on the audition form. We will contact you to make alternate arrangements for a video audition.
Please prepare 32 bars (30 seconds) of a musical theatre song that fits the style of the show and best demonstrates your vocal abilities. Please come prepared with sheet music so our pianist will be able to provide you with piano accompaniment.
You will receive a short scene that you will be asked to read during your audition (it will be a cold read). You may be given further instruction about the scene by the director at your audition. Please look it over upon your arrival prior to your audition time. Please Note: You do not need to memorise the scene.
All those wishing to audition for a leading role (Anne, Marrila, Matthew, Gilbert, Rachel, Diana, Josie, and/or Miss Muriel Stacey) should also prepare a one minute monologue to show your acting range and ability.
A dance/movement segment of the audition will be required for all those auditioning. Please come wearing dance appropriate clothing, as you will not be able to change at the audition.
A session of callback auditions may be required on Sunday, October 18 from 6:30-9:30pm at the discretion of the artistic team and may only require certain individuals. They are not an indication of whether you will be cast in the show, or if you are up for receiving a specific role in the production. Callbacks may not be required if the artistic team does not feel they are necessary for casting the production.

Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ follows the precocious and imaginative Anne Shirley as she captures the hearts and minds of her newfound family and neighbors in the small farming community of Avonlea – simply by virtue of her own pluck and personality. This original, glorious adaptation – now firmly embedded in Canadian national culture and musical theatre canon – continues to enrapture audiences around the world with its rich score and a rare, affecting story for all ages.
Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ started life as a TV musical adaptation, originally premiering on CBC Folio in 1956. Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ premiered on the mainstage at Charlottetown Festival, becoming a perennial favorite for all those who visit Canada’s Prince Edward Island. The production (which underwent significant changes in 2011) has run every year since its stage inception, and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the Longest-Running Annual Musical Theatre Production. The musical premiered in London in 1967 and at New York City Center in 1972.
Characters
- ANNE SHIRLEY: Female – Young girl; red-haired and freckled; exuberant and precocious. She is scholastic and well intentioned, but has a fiery temper.
- MARRILA CUTHBERT: Female, Late 50s – Stern, moral, and no-nonsense spinster. She lives with Matthew, her unmarried brother. She has a wry sense of humor and is eventually affectionate toward Anne.
- MATTHEW CUTHBERT: Male, Early 60s – Bachelor; silver hair and grey mustache. A sweet, soft-spoken farmer who works the Green Gables acreage. He lives with his sister Marilla and is painfully shy toward women.
- GILBERT BLYTHE: Male, Young Boy – Smart, handsome, and confident. Good-natured but cocky, he inadvertently becomes Anne’s adversary.
- RACHEL LYNDE: Female, Early 60s – Outspoken and indiscreet; the town gossip. Affectionate towards her good friend Marilla.
- DIANA BARRY: Female, Young Girl – Loyal, agreeable and sweet. She is Anne’s best friend, schoolmate and kindred spirit. Diana is an attractive girl with long black hair.
- JOSIE PYE: Female – Selfish, harsh and scheming; Anne’s worst enemy. Josie is blonde and pretty.
- MISS MURIEL STACY: Female – Schoolteacher; radiates enthusiasm and rampant desire for learning. She is a role model and mentor for Anne.
